Lady Patriots Sweep AMC #3 Crowley's Ridge

Box Score

Pregame
Mission University Volleyball returned to Hilly Beck Court inside W.E. Dowell Fieldhouse on Saturday to open its home AMC Quad-Match. The event featured a full day of volleyball with the Lady Patriots playing both the first and final matches of the day, joined by Crowley's Ridge College, Cottey College, and Hannibal-LaGrange University. Mission entered the day coming off a 3–1 victory over Central Baptist College, improving to 13–17 overall and 9–7 in American Midwest Conference play. Crowley's Ridge arrived in Springfield at 16–19 overall and 13–3 in the conference, having defeated Mission earlier in the season in a 3–1 match.

Set 1 (25–18 Mission)
Mission came out strong to start the morning, scoring the first point of the match and quickly taking control. An ace from Taylor Garrison helped the Lady Patriots establish an early 3–0 lead before Crowley's Ridge answered with its first point. During the opening set, Mission's Abbi Street reached a major career milestone by recording her 1,000th career dig, adding to the energy in the Fieldhouse. A combined block by Hannah Maxwell and Allie Czachowski extended the lead to 6–3, and Street followed it with an ace to make it 9–4. The Lady Patriots' attack remained balanced, with contributions from Karsyn Ryan, Shelby Evans, and Cora Duit keeping Mission ahead. Late in the set, Sarah Purcell delivered a well-placed kill to push the score to 23–15 and later sealed the 25–18 win.

Set 2 (28–26 Mission)
The second set proved to be the most competitive of the match. Crowley's Ridge opened with a 6–2 lead before Mission settled in and tied the frame at 9–9 after an ace from Czachowski. Strong play at the net from Sarah Purcell and steady defense from Garrison and Street allowed Mission to build an 18–13 advantage. However, Crowley's Ridge mounted a late comeback, forcing Mission to call timeout as the lead shrank to 18–16. After the break, Street responded with a powerful kill to restore momentum, and Evans added another as Mission reached set point at 24–23. The Lady Pioneers briefly claimed the lead, but Mission rallied once more. Following a final timeout by Crowley's Ridge, Street ended the back-and-forth battle with a decisive kill, giving Mission the 28–26 victory.

Set 3 (25–18 Mission)
Riding the momentum from the previous set, Mission opened the third frame with two quick points and never looked back. Karsyn Ryan's ace gave the Lady Patriots a 6–3 lead, and a series of kills from Evans and Street extended it to 14–8. Crowley's Ridge struggled to slow Mission's rhythm as Czachowski added an ace to make it 21–12. The Lady Pioneers called a timeout in an attempt to regroup, but Mission's attack continued to roll. Evans added another kill late in the set, and Street closed the match with her second straight set-ending point, securing the 25–18 win and completing the sweep.

Postgame
It was a dominant showing for Mission, who swept the No. 3 team in the conference and continued their late-season surge. With the victory, the Lady Patriots improved to 14–17 overall and 10–7 in AMC play, carrying strong momentum into next week's AMC Tournament. The full tournament field and schedule will be announced soon. Mission will play one more game in the AMC Quad, against HLGU at ~5:00PM to close out the regular season.
