SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Mission University softball secured a pair of American Midwest Conference wins Monday, defeating Hannibal-LaGrange 4-3 in eight innings in game one before completing the sweep with a 9-5 victory in game two.
Game 1: Mission 4, Hannibal-LaGrange 3 (8 innings)
Mission used a late push and extra-inning execution to take the opener.
Trailing early, the Patriots responded with a three-run sixth inning to swing momentum before delivering the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
Apryl Zeno led the offense, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Courtney Merrell added a hit and RBI. Kloe Hendrickson also contributed, reaching base and scoring in the win.
In the circle, Hailey Presley was strong throughout, tossing a complete-game eight-inning performance with six strikeouts to earn the victory.
Game 2: Mission 9, Hannibal-LaGrange 5
The Patriots carried momentum into game two, jumping out early and controlling the game offensively.
Mission scored four runs in the first inning and added two more in the second, building a lead it would not give up.
The Patriots totaled 12 hits, led by Hailey Presley, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Apryl Zeno added two hits and three runs scored, while Kloe Hendrickson and Cole Smith each recorded multiple hits. Mya Frillman and Courtney Merrell also drove in runs.
Jillian McDaniel earned the win in the circle, going the distance and allowing five runs (three earned).
