Mission University dropped an AMC conference matchup at home Saturday afternoon, falling 81-68 to Hannibal-LaGrange University at W. E. Dowell Fieldhouse.
Pregame
The Patriots entered the contest 9-14 overall and 5-5 in conference play after earning a 105-86 road win over Harris-Stowe State University.
Hannibal-LaGrange came into Springfield at 14-7 overall and 8-2 in AMC action following a 63-57 win over Central Baptist College.
The two teams met earlier this season, with Mission falling 109-90 on the road at HLGU.
Game Summary
Hannibal-LaGrange controlled the opening half, taking a 43-32 lead into the break. Mission shot 36.8 percent from the field in the game and 22.7 percent from three-point range, while HLGU finished at 43.5 percent from the floor and 37.9 percent from beyond the arc.
Najee Williams led Mission early, finishing with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Jamarian Cato added 11 points and five rebounds, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Jordyn Turner contributed seven points, four rebounds and three steals, while Clifford Barrow posted eight points with two steals and a block.
Off the bench, Marcell Perry provided a spark with a team-high 15 points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes, shooting 4-of-8 from the field and 7-of-9 at the line. Taco Biggs followed with nine points, three rebounds, two assists and a block.
Mission outscored HLGU 36-38 in the second half but was unable to erase the first-half deficit. The Patriots went 21-for-23 from the free-throw line (91.3 percent) but committed 15 turnovers, while HLGU scored 81 points behind balanced production.
The loss moved Mission to 9-15 overall and 5-6 in AMC play. HLGU improved to 15-7 overall and 9-2 in conference action.
