Springfield, Mo. — September 6, 2025
Mission University Men's Soccer closed out its third contest of the season on Saturday evening, battling hard but ultimately falling to Southwest Baptist University, 6–0, at Lake Country Soccer Complex.
The Patriots held strong through much of the first half, keeping the match level until the 29th minute when Southwest Baptist's Victor Valero broke through for the opening goal. After halftime, the Bearcats' offense found its stride, scoring five second-half goals to pull away.
For Mission, the attack generated three shots on goal — efforts from Andrey Smolin and Monthati Molomo highlighted the offense — but the Bearcats' defense held firm.
In goal, Jordon Shaw turned in a busy performance, recording eight saves on 14 shots on target. His effort between the posts kept the Patriots in contention for much of the first half before the Bearcats' second-half surge.
The match was physical, with four yellow cards issued in total. Mission's Kauan Amaro and Rome Johnson each received bookings, while Southwest Baptist saw two cautions, including a double yellow that resulted in an ejection.
With the result, Mission drops to 0–3 on the season. The Patriots will look to regroup quickly as they play Evangel September 9th.
