Mission University Women's Volleyball competed in a doubleheader Tuesday evening at the Haskell Triangular, facing two tough opponents in Grand View University and Haskell Indian Nations University. Despite strong stretches of play, the Patriots came up short in both contests, falling 3–0 to Grand View and 3–1 to host Haskell.
Match One: Grand View 3, Mission 0
In the opener, Mission struggled to find consistency against a sharp Grand View squad, dropping the match in straight sets (25–10, 25–15, 25–15).
Grand View's offense clicked early, hitting .417 in the first set and .455 in the second, while Mission was held to a .020 attack percentage overall.
Bright spots for the Patriots included Cora Duit, who tallied 4 kills, and Hannah Maxwell, who added 4 kills of her own along with a team-high 7 assists. Sarah Purcell and Allie Czachowski each chipped in 2–4 kills, while Gracie Bach contributed 10 assists and 4 digs from the setter position. Defensively, Karsyn Ryan led the team with 7 digs.
Match Two: Haskell 3, Mission 1
Mission bounced back with renewed energy in the nightcap, pushing host Haskell to four sets before falling 3–1 (22–25, 25–23, 25–16, 28–26).
The Patriots came out strong in the opening frame, hitting .158 and claiming a 25–22 win behind key kills from Leah Irvin (8 kills, 7 digs) and Allie Czachowski (8 kills, 4 digs, 1 block). Hannah Maxwell provided balance at the net with 5 kills, while Sarah Purcell recorded 6 kills and 7.5 total points.
Defensively, Abbi Street anchored the back row with a team-high 14 digs, while Rylea King added 11 digs. Bach once again set the tone offensively, dishing out 12 assists and collecting 6 digs.
Mission's best chance came in the fourth set, where they pushed Haskell deep into extra points before narrowly falling 28–26.
Looking Ahead
The Patriots (2–10) continue to show flashes of growth as their young lineup gains experience. Mission will return home to prepare for its next stretch of non-conference play before diving back into AMC action.
