SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — October 7, 2025
Mission University men's soccer hosted Columbia College on Tuesday evening at Lake Country Soccer, facing one of the top programs in the American Midwest Conference. Despite strong defensive stretches and a career performance in goal from Jordon Shaw, the Patriots fell 4–0 to the Cougars.
Columbia struck early in the 17th minute as Brady Freeman found the back of the net to open the scoring. The Cougars doubled their lead in the 65th minute on a goal from Parker Rainwater, assisted by Cameron Watts, and added two late tallies in the 86th minute — one from Lindo Zimba and another from Freeman — to seal the match.
Mission's Jordon Shaw was once again a standout in goal, recording an impressive 14 saves on 18 shots on target while playing all 90 minutes. The sophomore goalkeeper kept the Patriots competitive through long stretches of play, frustrating Columbia's attack and limiting damage in several key moments.
Offensively, Nevan Lindo led the Patriots with one shot on goal, while Pablo Comer and Andrey Smolin added attempts to give Mission three total shots in the match. Defensively, the Patriots held Columbia to just one corner in the first half before the Cougars' pressure mounted late.
Columbia finished the night with a 22–3 advantage in total shots and an 11–1 edge in corner kicks, using their depth and pace to control possession.
Mission will look to regroup and continue their stretch of home matches as they work toward their first conference win.
