Springfield, Missouri- The Patriots had a good starting performance by
Justin Locke as well as three strong innings from
Garrett Hunter to win the second game of the doubleheader 4-1. The Patriots struck for two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Landon Richards drew a one out walk, which was followed by a
Dylan Blehm walk.
Haden Parton then doubled in Richards and advanced Blehm to third base. Kam Grant hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield that scored Blehm, making it 2-0.
In the bottom of the second inning BBC tacked on another run.
Colton Highfill led off the inning with a base on balls.
Jayton Cromer singled hit to second base. Both runners moved up a base on a failed pick off throwing error by the pitcher.
Grant Merryman hit a deep enough sacrifice fly to center that scored Highfill.
The Mustangs scored their only run in the top of the third inning. CBC could have gotten more runs that inning had it not been for a great defensive catch by leftfielder Kam Grant to rob the hitter of a potential extra base hit at the wall. In the bottom of the fourth inning, BBC tallied another run making it 4-1. Highfill led off the inning with a deep drive to centerfield that resulted in a triple. Cromer laced a single driving in Highfill.
