Springfield, Missouri-  The Patriots had a good starting performance by Jackson Vestal and timely hitting to win game 1 of the first doubleheader 3-1. The Patriots scored a run in the bottom of the first inning when Tate Wheeler led off with a walk. Landon Richards followed that up with a drive to left field which the fielder lost somehow, resulting in a two-base error and runners on second a third for BBC Dylan Blehm grounded out to score T. Wheeler. Unfortunately, Richards was left stranded at third base.
The Crusaders bounced back to tie the game, 1-1 in the top half of the fourth inning. BBC responded will in the bottom half of the inning to plate two runs, taking the lead for good, 3-1. With one out, Blehm worked a base on balls from the Crusader pitcher. The Patriots then made a second out. Kam Grant followed by being hit by a pitch, pushing Blehm to second base. Drew Wheeler laced a single to left that scored Blehm in a sliding play. The DCC catcher recovered and then air-mailed his throw to third base, into left field, while trying to throw out an advancing Grant. Grant waltzed home with the second run of the inning.
Vestal then used his defense to record the final nine outs to preserve the win.
