BBC rallies twice, but falls to Sterling College in high scoring affair

Final score-  Sterling College 13, Baptist Bible College 9
Location-  BBC (US Ballpark) Ozark, Missouri
Springfield, Missouri-  The Patriots had a slow start against the Sterling College Warriors as the opposition scored one in the first, four in the third, and two in the fifth inning, to lead 7-0.  The Patriots started rolling in the bottom half of the fifth inning.  Grant Merryman singled and then advanced to second when Tate Wheeler was hit by a pitch.  Landon Richards stroked a double in the gap that plated both Merryman and T. Wheeler.  Drew Wheeler followed that up by drawing a walk, after Richards was caught stealing third.  The scoring for the Patriots in the fifth came to a close when Kamron Grant socked a two-run home run driving in D. Wheeler.  The Patriots had drawn within 7-4, but the Warriors immediately struck back in the top of the sixth inning when they plated four runs of their own to make the lead back to seven again, 11-4.  BBC bounced right back in the bottom of the sixth inning in dramatic fashion.  First, Sterling Jackson laced a single to left.  Jayton Cromer reached on an error, followed by a Merryman fielder's choice that forced out Cromer at second and moved S. Jackson to third.  T. Wheeler, for the second straight inning, reached base by being hit, to load the bases.  Sam Golden was next up, and sent a pitch over the boards to hit the season's first grand slam for four RBIs.  The rally didn't stop there, however, as Patriot D. Wheeler reached on a fielding error, the Grant drew a base on balls, that was followed by a Haden Parton double that scored D. Wheeler, making it 11-9 Sterling.  The Patriots, however, failed to score in their last three innings while the Warriors added single tallies in the seventh and eighth innings to make the score 13-9.  Though the Patriots had two home runs and a pair of doubles, the Warriors countered with three triples and three doubles.
Highlights- Up next-  The Patriots remain at home for a Saturday doubleheader with Sterling after they take Friday off as the weather is calling for a light snow February 10.  The doubleheader is slated for Saturday, February 11, at 1 and 4 pm.
