Assistant Coach Dawson Meinders has been an integral part of Baptist Bible College basketball since joining the team as a player2019-20. Meinders played on the team his freshman year as the program was being re-established by his father, Coach Darin Meinders. Playing a shooting guard, he was not bothered by being asked to play inside, if need be, on offense or defense. Meinders earned Second-Team All-American his freshman year. He was a vital member of the ACCA Championship team his sophomore year while being named Honorable Mention All-American. His junior year brought challenges as physical injury and pain caused him to evaluate whether to play, or not, but possible to stay involved with the program. He decided to become an assistant coach on his father’s staff and help the team move up to the NCCAA which ultimately led to, yet another National Championship. He begins his senior year in school, once again joining the coaching staff to see what great things the team can achieve this season.
Meinders had a great high school career at Walnut Grove, Missouri, where he played for his father and helped the school earn their first-ever Boys Class 1 State Championship. He also was a part of two second place state finishes. He was selected All-State Class 1 Basketball two seasons.
In his free time, he enjoys video games, working out, sorts card collecting, and his dog. His favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 61:10 I delight greatly in the Lord, my soul rejoices in my God. For He hath clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his
