SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Mission University fell 9-0 to the College of Saint Mary in a home match on Sept. 7.
College of Saint Mary scored four times during the opening half before adding five goals over the final 45 minutes. Mission goalkeeper Emma Vance faced 20 shots on goal and finished with 11 saves.
College of Saint Mary Builds First-Half Lead
Vance stopped the Flames' first three shots on goal, making saves in the fourth, ninth and 11th minutes.
College of Saint Mary broke through in the 14th minute when Makena Kramer opened the scoring. Ella Klusman doubled the advantage less than two minutes later before Emma Gallagher made it 3-0 in the 21st minute.
Klusman added her second goal in the 30th minute, sending the Flames into halftime with a 4-0 lead.
Mission Creates Second-Half Chances
Mission recorded both of its shots after halftime.
Myla Skenderovic nearly put the Lady Patriots on the board in the 56th minute when her attempt struck the post. She placed another shot on goal in the 81st minute, forcing a save from College of Saint Mary goalkeeper Chloe Price.
The Flames scored in the 49th, 66th and 77th minutes before adding two more goals in the 89th to complete the scoring.

College of Saint Mary finished with 32 shots, including 20 on goal, while Mission recorded two shots and placed one on frame.
Vance made four saves during the first half and seven more after halftime. Skenderovic accounted for both of Mission's shot attempts.
