HENDERSON, Tenn. — Mission University men's soccer returned to the road Saturday afternoon, falling to Freed-Hardeman University 3-0 at Riley Soccer Complex.
Freed-Hardeman took control early, scoring three times in the opening half. The Lions found the back of the net in the fifth, 16th and 40th minutes to take a 3-0 advantage into halftime.
Mission at Freed-Hardeman
Freed-Hardeman opened the scoring in the fourth minute when Noah Setterberg finished a pass from Martin Theissen to give the Lions an early lead.
The Lions added a second goal in the 16th minute, with Theissen scoring off an assist from Henry Appiah.
Freed-Hardeman found the back of the net once more just before halftime when Alex Wright scored off an assist from Sam Sebagabo, giving the Lions a three-goal advantage at the break.
Mission battled defensively in the second half, holding Freed-Hardeman scoreless over the final 45 minutes. Goalkeeper Miles Cook finished the contest with seven saves, including four in the second half.
The Patriots recorded three corner kicks in the match, including two in the opening half and one after halftime.
Freed-Hardeman finished with 18 shots compared to none for Mission and recorded 10 shots on goal. Cook made seven saves across the full 90 minutes.
