Mission University Softball wrapped up a four-game AMC stretch over the weekend, facing Cottey College on Fridayand Columbia College on Saturday.
Friday at Cottey
Mission dropped both games of the doubleheader against a top AMC opponent.
In game one, the Patriots were limited offensively, managing just three hits in a 9–0 loss . Mission struggled to generate momentum at the plate while Cottey capitalized with 10 hits, including two home runs, to create separation early.
Game two saw a more competitive effort, but Mission came up short in a 10–2 loss . The Patriots collected seven hits, with Courtney Merrell recording two hits and Apryl Zeno driving in a run. Mission scored in the first and fourth innings, but Cottey responded with consistent offensive pressure throughout.
Saturday at Columbia
Mission traveled to face Columbia College in another conference doubleheader.
In game one, the Patriots were held without a hit in an 11–0 loss . Defensive miscues played a factor, as Mission committed four errors, allowing Columbia to extend innings and build a large lead.
Game two was much tighter, but Mission fell 4–2 . The Patriots scored in the first and seventh innings and totaled five hits in the contest.
Hailey Presley led the way offensively, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while also throwing a complete game in the circle. Mission kept the game within reach throughout but was unable to overcome Columbia's steady offensive production.
