Patriots Sweep Southwestern Behind Strong Pitching and Timely Offense

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Mission University Softball picked up an AMC doubleheader sweep on Monday, defeating Southwestern College 4–0 and 9–1 at Cooper Sports Complex.

Game One: Mission 4, Southwestern 0

The Patriots opened the day with a 4–0 shutout victory, led by a dominant performance in the circle from Hailey Presley.

Offensively, Mission capitalized early. Hailey Presley helped her own cause with an RBI single in the first inning, while Apryl Zeno reached and scored in the opening frame. The Patriots added to their lead in the second behind patient at-bats and timely execution, including a sacrifice fly from Courtney Merrell.

Mission finished with six hits and drew eight walks, consistently putting pressure on Southwestern pitching.

Game Two: Mission 9, Southwestern 1

The Patriots carried that momentum into game two, pulling away with a big offensive inning to secure a 9–1 run-rule victory.

Mission totaled 12 hits in the game, with production throughout the lineup. Kloe HendricksonApryl Zeno, and Courtney Merrell each recorded multiple hits, while Haley FrillmanJillian McDaniel, and Kate Potter all drove in runs during a decisive fourth inning.
