Mission Patriots Advance to NCCAA Central Regional Championship with 108-77 Win Over Kansas Christian

Pregame

Mission entered the semifinal as the second overall seed in the NCCAA Central Regional Tournament with a 10-19 overall record. Kansas Christian, the third overall seed, came into the matchup 9-13 overall.

The tournament game was played at W.E. Dowell Fieldhouse, though it served as a neutral-site contest due to the regional tournament format.

With the win, Mission advances to the NCCAA Central Regional Championship, where the Patriots will face College of the Ozarks. The championship game is scheduled for March 11 at 7:30 p.m. at W.E. Dowell Fieldhouse, with the winner advancing to the NCCAA National Tournament.

Game Summary

Mission came out aggressively and immediately established control of the game. After Najee Williams opened the scoring with a layup, Jamarian Cato followed with a three-pointer to help Mission jump out to a quick 5-0 lead. The Patriots continued to attack early, with baskets from Rayshaun Fowler and Marcell Perry extending the lead to 9-0 in the opening minutes.

Kansas Christian briefly responded with a three-pointer from James Lewis, but Mission quickly regained momentum. Layups from Perry and Cato pushed the Patriots ahead 13-5, and Mission continued to build the lead through strong rebounding and transition scoring.

Midway through the first half, Mission's offense began to surge. Justin Gill scored off the bench and Jordyn Turner knocked down a three-pointer to stretch the lead to 20-5. The Patriots maintained pressure on both ends of the floor, forcing misses and controlling the boards.

Mission continued to pour on points throughout the half. Cato connected on multiple three-pointers, Williams attacked the basket, and several players contributed offensively as the lead grew steadily. A dunk from Williams and another three from Cato helped push the margin past 30 points late in the half.

The Patriots closed the opening half strong, heading into the break with a commanding 61-27 advantage.

Kansas Christian showed more offensive rhythm to start the second half, scoring early baskets to cut slightly into the deficit. However, Mission quickly answered with a three-pointer from Williams and a layup from Cato to maintain a comfortable lead.

The Patriots continued to control the game through balanced scoring and rebounding. Fowler added a second-half basket, while Barrow, Biggs, and Gill contributed key points during extended possessions.

Mission kept the offense flowing as the half progressed. Cato threw down a dunk midway through the period, and Williams followed with one of his own shortly after. Biggs added points inside and from the perimeter as Mission pushed the lead past 90 points.

With the outcome firmly in hand, Mission continued to rotate players while maintaining control of the game. Late baskets from Tyler Barnett, Justin Gill, and Jordyn Turner helped the Patriots surpass the 100-point mark, sealing the 108-77 victory and advancing to the regional final.

Mission shot efficiently throughout the night, finishing 42-of-70 from the field (60%), while also dominating the glass with a 57-37 rebounding advantage.

Strong shooting, balanced scoring, and dominance on the boards allowed Mission to dictate the tempo and prevent Kansas Christian from mounting a sustained comeback. Multiple players contributed offensively while the team's rebounding advantage created additional scoring opportunities throughout the night.

With the victory, Mission advances to the NCCAA Central Regional Championship, moving one win away from earning a berth in the NCCAA National Tournament.
