Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Dawson Meinders

Patriots Fall on the Road at CBC

The Mission University Patriots wrapped up a road trip to Arkansas on Tuesday night with a pair of tough losses at Central Baptist Mustangs, falling 104–77 in the women's contest and 88–83 in a tightly contested men's game.

Women's Basketball – CBC 104, Mission 77

Mission kept pace early but Central Baptist used a strong second half to pull away for the 104–77 final.

Ireland Jones led the Patriots with 15 points and added 11 assists, while Hannah Maxwell chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Naomi Daugherty finished with 10 points and seven rebounds, and Miya Nieto added 16 points to round out the balanced scoring for Mission.

The Patriots stayed competitive on the glass, outrebounding CBC 47–43, and shot 83.3% from the free throw line (10-of-12). Central Baptist, however, caught fire from three-point range (40.5%) and capitalized on turnovers, scoring 20 points off Mission miscues to create separation late.

Men's Basketball – CBC 88, Mission 83

The men's game came down to the final minutes, but Central Baptist edged Mission 88–83 in a back-and-forth battle.

Najee Williams paced the Patriots with 20 points off the bench, while Justin Gill added 15 points and Jamarian Cato contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds. Marcell Perry scored 11, and Clifford Barrow finished with 10 as Mission placed five players in double figures.

Mission shot 44.1% from the field and held a 33–8 advantage in bench points, also scoring 24 points off turnovers. Despite those efforts, CBC's efficiency inside and late free throws proved to be the difference, as the Mustangs shot over 53% from the floor.

Both Patriot squads will look to regroup as they continue conference play this week at Harris-Stowe.
