Ozark, Missouri: The Columbia College-Mission University baseball game in the winners' semifinal bracket several hours to complete thanks to a long rain shower.  The game was halted in the bottom of the seventh inning with The Cougars ahead 4-3.  When play resumed early morning, May1, the Cougars scored two more runs, added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning, to lead 7-3, and then finished off the Patriots to send them to the losers' bracket.  The Patriots scored a single run in the top of the fourth inning and then two runs in the top of the fifth to tie the contest, 3-3.  In the fourth inning, the Patriots got on the scoreboard when Brennan Montgomery hit a deep drive over the right center field fence.  In the fifth inning, Ryan Free drew a walk with one Patriot out already recorded.  Tate Wheeler followed by collecting four balls as well.  Landon Richards followed with a fielder's choice, which ended up scoring Free when the CC shortstop made a throwing error.  Trey Mulholland singled to left field to drive in Wheeler for the only fireworks Mission could muster in nine innings.

Highlights- In the second game, the Patriots faced off against the Central Baptist College Mustangs in a loser-go-home game.  It took seven innings for MU to show any life.  CBC scored three big runs, thanks to two home runs in the top of the second inning, to take a commanding lead, then added a fourth run in the fifth inning.  Until the seventh inning, the Patriots had only managed to hit a pair of singles in each the fourth and fifth innings, but came away with no runs.  The spark began when Ian Brown led off the seventh inning by parking the ball beyond the right field fence, 4-1 CBC.  In the bottom of the eighth inning, Landon Richards reached base on an error by the pitcher.  Kaeden Thompson came in to pinch run for Richards.  Two Mission ground outs later, Thompson was at third base when Sam Golden drew a walk.  Dylan Blehm singled to right center to score Thompson and move Golden to third base.  Drew Vaughn came in to run for Blehm, next.  A Mustang pitching change was made and Brown met him with an RBI single to pull the Patriots within one run, 4-3.  The inning ended when Vaughn tried to advance to third on the hit.  Trey Mulholland came in to relieve Jackson Vestal in an attempt to hold the Mustangs.  Mulholland did his job despite giving a leadoff single to the Mustangs, as he struck a batter out and induced to other hitters in to ground outs.  Now the moment of truth came for the Patriots.  The bottom of the ninth, trailing by one run; it was now or never.  The first two Patriot batters made outs, but then Tate Wheeler was able to work a walk off the Mustang pitcher.  Landon Richards, who was hot as a firecracker last week, became a hero for Mission, as he lofted a long two-run homer over the right field fence to keep the Patriots alive with the 5-4 come-from-behind win.
Highlights- Next Up:
The Patriots continue play in the AMC Tournament in O'Fallon, Missouri, on Friday, May 2, against the loser of the Missouri Baptist University- Columbia College game at noon.
