Springfield, Missouri- Hits and runs were scarce in today's doubleheader losses to Columbia College. The Lady Cougar pitching was tough. The Lady Cougars struck for 4 runs in the bottom of the third inning of game one and then tacked on four more in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Lady Patriots had no response in the top of the fifth inning while dropping the 8-0 decision.
Highlights-
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Lady Cougars scored a single tally in the bottom of the first, then followed up with another run in the bottom of the second inning. The Lady Patriots did have two hits in the top of the first inning, singles by
Courtney Merrell and
Cole Smith, but were unable to capitalize.
Jocelyn Cunningham singled to start the second inning for the Lady Pats, but was left at first base. In the top of the fourth inning
Karissa Roberts singled with two outs, but was stranded on first. The Lady Cougars scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to go up 5-0. Columbia then added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game, 8-0.
