Springfield, Missouri- Mission University hosted Harris-Stowe University in a late season AMC match up Thursday night where the Patriots had a very strong team victory. Some great offensive play from MU grabbed them a quick 5-point lead behind a Lawson Beem long 3-point basket. Quickly the Hornets made a 9-0 run of their own. The Hornets would continue to take advantage of some missed shots gaining a 9-point lead with 9:41 left in the first half. JacquesThomas would respond taking the ball to the rim and getting a tough and 1 to start a 9-2 Patriot run. Jacques Thomas would then go down with an ankle injury shortly after and be out for the remainder of the game. Patriot bigs then began to assert their dominance behind Ty O'Neal and Peyton Golightly. The Patriots would earn a 6-point lead by halftime.
Mission University's Ty O'Neal and Peyton Golightly would continue to dominate through the game combining for 38 points and 15 rebounds. The Hornets cut the lead to 3 with 16:50 left in the game. Peyton Golightly would then go on a 7-0 unanswered run. The Patriots kept the lead throughout the rest of the game behind 30 points in the paint. Peyton Golightly also grabbed his 1,000 rebound for his career to go along with his double-double on the night.
