Patriots Close MACU Classic Against #13 Ranked Mid-America Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — November 8, 2025
Mission University Women's Basketball closed out the MACU Classic on Saturday afternoon, falling 85–63 to #13 Mid-America Christian University. The Evangels had opened the classic the previous day with a win over Cottey College (84–36).

Battling a Top-15 Opponent

Mission held its own early against the nationally ranked Evangels, trailing by just ten after the first quarter and continuing to compete through the second half. The Patriots' guard play once again led the charge, showing poise against MACU's defensive pressure.

Interior Presence Proves Key

Mid-America Christian's size proved to be the difference, as the Evangels controlled the glass 51–32 and scored 40 points in the paint. Their advantage on the boards led to 23 second-chance points and helped maintain separation throughout the game.

Jones Leads Another Strong Effort

Ireland Jones led all Patriots with 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists, showing her versatility against MACU's physical front line. Miya Nieto added 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Game Notes

The Patriots shot 33% from both the field and beyond the arc, while knocking down 90.9% at the free-throw line (20-of-22) — their best mark of the season. Mission held MACU nearly even from three-point range (33.3% vs 31.4%)

Up Next

The Patriots (1-3) will travel to Calvary Bible College on Tuesday, November 11, before returning home to face Haskell Indian Nations University on November 15 at the W.E. Dowell Fieldhouse.
