Mission Explodes for 114 Points in Dominant Home Win Over Haskell

Pregame
Mission University entered Saturday's matchup looking to build on the momentum from their road win over Culver-Stockton. The Patriots came in at 2–4 on the season, while Haskell arrived at W.E. Dowell Fieldhouse at 3–5 after falling to Baker University earlier in the week. This non-conference matchup marked Mission's final game before returning home again Monday to host Bethany College on November 17.

1st Half — Mission 58, Haskell 40

Mission wasted no time taking control. Just 21 seconds into the game, Najee Williams drilled a deep three to start what would become an offensive showcase. After Haskell briefly jumped ahead 7–3, Mission responded with a barrage of perimeter shooting.

Clifford Barrow took over early, knocking down back-to-back threes to tie the game at 9–9 and again at 13–13. Minutes later, the Patriots unleashed a devastating run. Threes from Taco Biggs, Barrow, and Tyler Barnett, combined with fast-break finishes from Williams, quickly turned a tight contest into a 22–13 advantage.

With Mission's full lineup contributing, the Patriots continued to pile on. Freshman guard Sterling Vinson provided a huge lift off the bench with timely offense—including a three, several put-backs, and hard-nosed rebounding—to help stretch the lead to 40–20 midway through the half.

Williams remained electric throughout the period, scoring at all three levels and pushing the tempo off defensive rebounds. Mission also took full advantage of two Haskell technical fouls, converting at the line and keeping momentum firmly on their side.

The Patriots closed the half with contributions from every rotation piece, including a late jumper by Barrow that sent Mission into the locker room leading 58–40.

2nd Half — Mission 114, Haskell 94

Mission picked up right where it left off. Early in the half, Barrow buried another three off a feed from Williams, and moments later Justin Gill added a jumper to extend the advantage past 20.

Haskell fought behind a massive scoring effort from Jesse White—who finished with 37—but Mission's depth and efficiency continued to overwhelm the visitors. Williams, Barrow, and Vinson consistently answered every response with transition buckets, strong drives, or perimeter shots.

Early in the half, Justin Gill delivered a stretch of standout defensive plays, including a steal and converted jumper, sparking another Patriots run. Mission's offense stayed blisteringly efficient, with Williams slicing through the lane for multiple mid-range finishes and dunks, including a highlight-reel flush with 8:03 remaining.

Vinson added back-to-back threes, and Barrow hit his eighth triple of the game midway through the second half as the lead ballooned toward 30.

Down the stretch, Mission rotated in its full bench unit, but the scoring continued. DJ Prater knocked down a pair of free throws and Sterling Vinson, Taco Biggs, and Marcell Perry all added late offense while the Patriots cruised to the finish line.

Mission crossed the 100-point mark with just under eight minutes remaining and coasted home to an emphatic 114–94 victory.

Postgame

Mission's offense was explosive from start to finish, with five players scoring in double figures and the team shooting 55% from the field and 42% from three. Williams and Barrow shared game-high honors with 29 points each, while Vinson delivered a massive 26 points off the bench.

With the win, Mission improves to 3–4 on the season and now turns its attention to another home matchup next week.

The Patriots return to action Monday, November 17 at 6:00 PM, hosting Bethany College at W.E. Dowell Fieldhouse.
