Mission University women's volleyball came up short in a four-set road battle Saturday morning at Crowley's Ridge College, falling 3–1 in American Midwest Conference action. After dropping the opening set 25–22, the Patriots bounced back with a strong 25–23 win in the second, but the Pioneers pulled away in the final two sets to close out the match 25–12 and 25–13.
In addition to the varsity contest, Mission's reserve team finished the day on a high note, earning back-to-back wins in two extra sets by scores of 27–25 and 25–22.
How It Happened
Mission traded momentum early, taking the second set with efficient offense and a .325 team hitting percentage. Despite that surge, Crowley's Ridge found its rhythm late, using consistent attacks and solid blocking to secure the 3–1 victory.
Patriot Leaders
Shelby Evans paced the Patriots with 16 kills and 17.5 total points, while Cora Duit added nine kills and two blocks. Abbi Street and Allie Czachowski each tallied four kills, and Hannah Maxwell contributed 11 digs and 32 serve attempts. Rylea King anchored the back row with a team-high 12 digs.
As a team, Mission totaled 41 kills, 58 digs, and six blocks while hitting .092 on the day.
