Lady Patriots drop final AMC match to Columbia College

The Mission University Lady Patriots played well for three sets, but fell to AMC no. 2, Columbia College.  In the first set, The Lady Cougars moved to a small lead early, 5-1, then maintained a five to six point advantage for most of the remainder of the set.  The Lady Patriots pulled to within 20-15, but never got closer as they dropped set 1, 25-16.  Summer Kenney paced the team with 3 Kills in the opening set.  MU once again started slow in the second set, but tied the set 3-3, 4-4, and 5-5, before the Lady Cougars put a little distance between the two teams.  Columbia eventually pushed their lead to 16-9 before the Lady patriots started playing better defense.  MU rallied a bit to trail 23-17, but the Lady Cougars scored the last two points of the set on a Kill and a Service ace to win the set, 25-27.  Ella Sims hammered 4 Kills to lead the Lady Patriots in the second set.  The third set was a battle.  There were five ties at the beginning of the set, before a mini-run by the Lady Cougars put them ahead by two points, 16-14.  The teams traded possessions resulting in a Columbia 18-16 advantage.  The Lady Cougars then seemed to get the momentum to finish off the Lady patriots as Columbia scored seven of the last ten points to win 25-19, and the match, 3-0.  Kenney knocked down 5 Kills to pace the squad in set 3.

  • Ella Sims hit a team-high .400 and contributed 9 Kills.
  • Rylea King paced the team with 8 Digs.
  • Ryleigh Fowler had 15 Assists to lead the team.                        
 
Upcoming action:
The Volley Patriots return to action Tuesday, November 12, to play in the first round of the American Midwest Conference post-season Tournament.  The team will play in Fulton, Missouri, against William Woods University at for a 7 pm start.
