Springfield, Missouri- The Patriots had to come from behind to defeat the CBC Mustangs 5-3. The Mustangs scored first, putting two runs across in the top of the second inning. In the bottom of the second the Patriots got a run back. Kam Grant reached on a three-base error by the centerfielder.
Haden Parton hit a sacrifice fly to score Grant, leaving the deficit at 2-1.
In the top half of the fourth inning Central Baptist notched another run to make it 3-1. The Patriots came alive in the bottom half of the inning.
Logan Crum pinch-hit and singled to start the action. He was pinch-ran for by
Gabe Terry, who advanced to second base on a stolen base.
Dylan Blehm then drew a walk to make it to first, pushing Terry to second base for BBC.
Drew Wheeler then used a bunt to sacrifice the runners over. Kam Grant followed that up with a triple to score both runners and tie the game, 3-3. After a second Patriot out,
Grant Merryman lifted a double that easily scored Grant to give the Patriots a 4-3 lead. Merryman stole third base and then came into score on a throwing error by the CBC catcher making it 5-3.
By now,
Josh Buxton was on the mound in relief. Though he gave up a run in the fourth, he shut down the Mustangs through the fifth and sixth innings. The Patriots were unable to score themselves, but
Tate Wheeler came in relief in the seventh inning. T. Wheeler gave up a single and a walk, but then closed the game out to preserve the win and earn a save.
