Springfield, Missouri- The Patriots had a good starting performance by
Garrett Hunter and made four, first inning runs, stand up for the victory. Hunter mixed his pitches well and kept the Crusader batters off-balance most of the contest.
The Patriots did all of their damage with the bats in the bottom of the first inning.
Tate Wheeler led off the game with a base on balls, then stole second base.
Landon Richards ripped an RBI double that scored T. Wheeler.
Dylan Blehm moved Richards over to third base by grounding out to the right side.
Haden Parton made it first and third, Patriots, when he drew a walk. Richards was able to score shortly afterward on a wild pitch. Kam Grant laced a double to push Parton to third base.
Drew Wheeler knocked both of those runners in with a 2 RBI single, making it 4-0.
Garrett stranded a runner at second in the top half of the second inning, got a double play after a leadoff single in the top of the fourth inning, stranded another runner on first base in the fifth inning, as well as in the sixth inning. Hunter rose to the occasion to leave two runners on base in the top half of the seventh inning to preserve the shutout.
