A quality pitching start and timely hit help the Patriots win their opener against Williams Baptist

Final score-  Baptist Bible College 7, Williams Baptist 1
Location-  BBC (US Ballpark) Ozark, Missouri
Springfield, Missouri-  The Patriots got the scoring going in the bottom of the second after a double by Kamron Grant.  Grant advanced to third on a fielder's choice by Sterling Jackson, then a single by Tate Wheeler plated the first run.  Jayton Cromer then walked to load the bases, and then Grant Merryman walked to make for a second Patriot tally. The Eagles got one run back off starting pitcher Josh Buxton with three consecutive singles in the fourth inning. In the fifth inning Sam Golden led the inning off with a single, then Landry Delgado pinch-ran and eventually stole home plate making it 3-1.  In the top of the sixth inning an Eagle threat caused a BBC pitching change with Trenton Viviano coming in to put out the fire.  In the bottom of the sixth inning Tate Wheeler led off with a double and eventually came around to score on an RBI single by Golden.  Again Delgado pinch-ran for Golden and scored on a passed ball after consecutive batters, and Landon Richards and Drew Wheeler, reached base safely.  The Patriots added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh when Sterling Jackson singled, followed by Tate Wheeler reaching base on an error by the Eagle second baseman.  Two players later, Grant Merryman hit a gap single to left that scored pinch-runner Kyle Brattin and T. Wheeler.  The Eagles faced the third and final Patriot pitcher, Carter Campbell, in the ninth, who ended the game after two men reached base.
Highlights- Up next-  The Patriots remain at home this week facing off against the Sterling College Warriors from Sterling Kansas.  The first contest is Friday, February 10, at noon.  A doubleheader is slated for Saturday, February 11, at 1 and 4 pm.
