Springfield, Missouri- The Patriots scored in every inning, but the seventh in securing an easy 15-2 victory.
Tate Wheeler started the action for the Patriots in the opening inning by walking, then stealing second base. He advanced to third on a groundout.
Sterling Jackson was hit by a pitch, then
Haden Parton walked to load the bases. T. Wheeler scored on a passed ball, but the Patriots couldn't add more. In the second inning, the Patriots started with back-to-back walks by
Grant Merryman and
Jayton Cromer. Tw outs later
Sam Golden doubled both runners in for a 3-0, BBC lead. In the third inning, Parton was hit by a pitch, followed by a Kam Grant walk, and
Gabe Terry being hit as well to load the bases. Merryman hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Parton, then Cromer duplicated the sacrifice to right to score Grant. With Terry on third base, T. Wheeler was hit by a pitch. Logan Richards doubled in both runners to make it 7-0. The fourth inning was even more fireworks for the Patriots. Both Grant and Terry were hit by pitches to reach base. Merryman followed with a walk to load the bases again. Cromer was hit by a pitch forcing in Grant. T. Wheeler walked to force in Terry. Richards walked to score Merryman. With the bases still loaded,
Sam Golden hit a deep sacrifice fly to centerfield and both Cromer and T. Wheeler were able to beat the throw home to make it 12-0, BBC. The Trojans did score two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to 12-2. In the fifth inning,
Carter Vienhage reached first on an error by the third baseman, then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Terry singled him home and eventually made it to third base on a wild pitch and passed ball. T. Wheeler reached base on a hard liner, error by shortstop that scored Terry (14-2). The scoring came to an end in the 6
th inning.
Zach Still walked with two outs, Viehnage singled Still to second base, then Terry doubled Still home to make it 15-2, BBC.
Josh Buxton picked up the win with five good innings of and
Evan Smith closed the door in the last two innings.
