Drew Wheeler started the inning off with a triple.
Haden Parton then walked and Kam Grant was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Carter Vienhage reached on an error by the shortstop scoring D. Wheeler and Parton. Grant came to third and shortly afterward, scored on a passed ball.
Jayton Cromer reached on another error by the shortstop, driving in Vienhage to make it 4-0. The Pioneers scored two in the bottom of the third inning, narrowing the gap to 4-2. The Patriots erupted for five runs in the top half of the fifth inning. First,
Landry Delgado singled. An out later D. Wheeler singled Delgado home. Parton walked, then Grant was again hit by a pitch to load the bases. Vienhage again reached on a fielding error by the shortstop, which plated D. Wheeler and Parton. Grant and Vienhage later scored on a single by Cromer to make it 9-2. Landon Richards had a strong outing on the mound.
