Springfield, Missouri-  The Lady Patriots played well on the windy, sunny late morning game.  Kate Potter gave up 1 run and 6 hits in 7 innings of work, only being touched by a single run in the top of the seventh.  The Lady Patriots scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning to take the lead and would hold on for the 5-1 victory.  In the second, Apryl Zeno singled to left.  Zeno then advanced two bases on a wild pitch to third base.  Maddie Good then drove the ball to center field for a double to score Zeno.  Good also moved up to third on another wild pitch.  After one out was recorded by the Lady Royals, Karissa Roberts singled up the middle just beyond the second baseman, helping Good to score.  Kate Potter then reached on an error by the shortstop.  Next, Macie Vestal singled to center field, and Roberts tried to score, but was thrown out.  Merrell then drew a base on balls to load the bases.  All of the runners moved up a base on a wild pitch, with Potter scoring.  The Lady Pats then added a single tally in the bottom of the third inning.  Cole Smith drew a lead-off walk.  Brookelyn Cline came in to pinch run for Smith.  Zeno followed with a walk.  Good then doubled to right center field pushing Zeno to third and scoring B. Cline.  Mission added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Karissa Roberts tripled to right field.  After a Mission out was recorded, Vestal hit a ground out to shortstop that was good enough to drive in Roberts.  The Lady Royals scored one run in the top of the seventh, but MU shut the rally down.

Highlights- In the second game of the doubleheader, the Lady Royals jumped in front, 6-0, in the first inning to take a commanding lead.  The Lady Patriots did their best to gradually work their way back into the contest.  It began for Mission in the bottom half of the first inning.  Courtney Merrell singled to center field.  Merrell then advanced to second base on a passed ball.  The next two Lady Pats made outs, but then Apryl Zeno ripped a triple to left field to score Merrell.  Maddie Good followed with a double to left field, scoring the Zeno.  Jocelyn Cunningham made it 6-3, when she doubled to left center field, driving in Good.  The next two innings were scoreless for both teams.  The Lady Patriots added a fourth run in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 6-4.  Tessa Cline singled to right field.  Brookelyn Cline pinch ran for T. Cline.  B. Cline then stole second base.  She was moved over to third base by a ground out by Macie Vestal.  Merrell then hit a sacrifice fly to center that scored B. Cline.  Neither squad scored in the fifth inning.  In the top of the sixth inning, the Lady Royals plated two on a two-run homer to left field to increase the lead to 8-4.  The Lady Patriots could have rolled over and given up at that point, but the bottom of the sixth inning saw an impressive rally by MU.  Karissa Roberts singled to left to start the inning.  Roberts was forced out by a grounder by T. Cline.  Vestal doubled to left field making it second and third with one out.  Merrell then hit a key double that drove in both T. Cline and Vestal.  After a second Patriot out, Cole Smith singled to left, making it first and third.  Ellie Mitchell came in to run for Smith.  Zeno was next and lifted a single to left that scored Merrell.  Maddie Good then hit a ground rule double to left center that scored the tying run, Mitchell.  It was unfortunate that the ball bounced over the fence because Zeno wasn't allowed to score.  The inning ended in an 8-8 tie.  The top of the seventh saw Ecclesia get a runner on base, but they did not get past first base.  In the bottom of the inning, Roberts started the rally by drawing a walk.  T. Cline sacrificed her over to second base.  With the Ecclesia defense drawn in at every fielding position, Vestal found a gap to the right of the center fielder for a game-winning RBI single.
